This beautiful and unique guitar was designed by Ken Patin under the "Yavcon" name. A couple of years ago Ken decided to pursue a different line of work and he authorized MCS to build his designs. Ken still does custom lamination work for us from time to time. :-)
This specific guitar is Ken's personal guitar. Ken built the body and sent it to me to do the neck, finger board, binding.....etc., and do the final assembly and setup. The most interesting thing about this guitar is that it's set up as an electric acoustic. It has a piezo bridge and it plugs in direct to an amp, no other pickups or controls.
Specs:
The neck is Flame Maple down the center with Lacewood sides and a black bound Bubinga finger board with large MOP diamonds. The wings are Lacewood and it has Ebony stringers.
It was my honor to be able to do the neck work on this beautiful guitar and I thank Ken for being so understanding about the time it took me to do it. Ken is a close friend and so often you're friends guitars have to take a back seat to production. Thanks again Ken, you ROCK. ;-)
If you see other guitars on the market that look similar to this guitar it's because Ken's "Yavcon" designs have been "borrowed" by a number of companies. Oh how we designers of unique guitars LOVE that.
